The Resort

Dream of a fantastic place with social housing buildings, made in reinforced concrete, which contain the lives of people full of incredible stories, people who enjoy a view of the sea since the first morning they were born.
Sant’Elia Resort is a new neighborhood in which the sea has finally entered. Due to the creation of five new ponds it’s possible to swim in sea-water pools, sail to your front door, moor the boat and unload the fresh-picked fish, do sports, enjoy the beach or go down the street with the neighbors telling some old sea stories o cook a seafood grill together.
The water goes just under the houses, bringing some company to their daily life, without losing its main purpose for the community: an essential source of nourishment.
The dusted urban voids that, until now, gave a negative image to this neighborhood and its relation with the sea, have disappear. The asphalt strips that used to limit undefined spaces have vanished. Now we have water canals surrounded by a huge garden, a beautiful beach, and small port, all this just under everyone’s house, secure, protected and enriched by the lives of its citizens.
Under the pilotis of these buildings rise schools, sailing shops, boatyards, cooking labs, canoe rental shops, spaces for barbecue.
The neighborhood is now efficiently connected to the rest of the city, with a new image and suggested activities, not with new buildings and not to mention, new streets. The only new infrastructure is the Main Canal that unites the seashore with the ponds, in which is possible to see flamingos, go canoe-sailing or go for a picnic.
This place is open to everyone, offering the following services: a public beach, only decorated with palms and refreshment stands, the possibility to moor small boats on the main pond, guided canoe trips through the new canal to visit the World Wildlife Fund oasis (untouched natural ecosystem), wooden boat construction workshops, cooking courses based on traditional food, gymnasium, watersports, fishing assisted by professionals, and so much more!
Sant’Elia Resort is a sustainable place for networking, is the new attraction of the city of Cagliari. It’s the renewed neighborhood we’ve always dreamed.
